Listen to this Article
While applying DIN of an applicant, following Documents are required to be attached with the DIN 1 Form as Proof of Identity and as Proof of Residence (As per DIN Help Form):
Proof of Identity of applicant
In case of Indian nationals, Income-tax PAN is a mandatory requirement for proof of identity.
In case of foreign nationals, passport is a mandatory requirement for proof of identity.
Proof of residence of applicant
Address proofs like passport, election (voter identity) card, ration card, driving licence, electricity bill, telephone bill or bank account statement shall be attached and should be in the name of applicant only.
After the introduction of Aadhaar Card made mandatory for every Indian Citizen by the Central Government, as issued by UIDAI, Applicants provide Aadhaar Card as Address Proof to the Professionals for attachment in DIN 1 Form. As per DIN Help Form, there is no where mention about use of Aadhaar Card as Address Proof. But due to non-availability of any other Address Proof, it becomes difficult for the Professionals to apply for the DIN. So a query was raised with MCA DIN Cell regarding use of Aadhaar Cad and as per reply from MCA DIN Cell, now
“UID card is ok as an address proof.”
Hence, now the applicants also have one more option to use the Aadhaar Card as an Address Proof in case he is not having any other address proof for applying DIN under Section 266A.
