"GENERAL MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS"
General Management and communication skills, popularly known as GMCS classes were the initiative taken by NIRC council of ICAI, to provide a chance of improvement and overcoming the phobia’s that they have and generally face during communication with others.
In a survey amongst CA’s, CS’s, MBA’s and Lawyers it was noticed that CA’s are the one that are backward in every section apart from their knowledge. No doubt that they possess not only requisite knowledge but a very deep and sound knowledge. It is well proved that a work that can be done by a CA, CS and CWA can be handled alone by a CA. but at the same time they have communication skills problem, does not possess healthy food habits, and many more..
There is no matchup between the knowledge and skills of a Chartered Accountant and a MBA. Yet when they both enter into a market for seeking job, a MBA overtakes a CA. The main reason behind this that MBA’s are well versant with their dressing skills and than their strong communication skills. The job packages offered to a MBA is much more higher than that is being offered to a CA.
Thus, NIRC council of ICAI took this initiative of conducting GMCS classes where CA members would be taught about communication skills, body language, participation in group discussions, management, etc. 15 days session of GMCS is the golden opportunity provided to those who have some or the other phobia to deal with public and communicate with them or to participate in group discussions.
Teachers who are appointed to impart knowledge about the same try to convey their message through the means of activities, games, etc. thus creating a friendly environment whereby even students feel free to volunteer themselves to participate in the activities being undertaken in the GMCS session.
BUT does the main purpose for which the need to undertake these were classes was recognized has been resolved completely??????
I guess no… why am I saying so????? I’m saying that the purpose of conducting theses GMCS has not been resolved because the people who do not have any kind of phobia always volunteer themselves and those who have some phobia keeps themselves in the end. Thus the opportunity to come forward and overcome their fear remains the same rather they feel more complexed and backward.
Thus, the main motto of NIRC should not prove to be a total waste. Therefore, teachers and smart students should make an initiative to provide a chance to the shy people to come forward and perform. Rather they shall motivate and boost them to volunteer themselves to take part in the activities so that they can face their phobia. Friends and collegues are the best source to learn and improve thus, the main support to be provided is by their batch mates. Teachers conducting GMCS session should also recognise shy people during their introduction and make a group of such people to provide a chance of imrovement and growth. Hence, in this way the motto of NIRC could be met and learning would a means through activities and masti.

19-Feb-2012 , 08:47:48 ami truly agree with Lavina. In GMCS class many students often remain silent and dont participate and consider GMCS as a hurdle before getting a CA degree.
