Under Staffing in Competition Commission of India Question

Out of the 156 posts sanctioned for the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and 41 posts sanctioned for Director General, CCI, 77 and 25 posts, respectively, are lying vacant.
Till date, CCI has decided 102 cases, out of total number of 194 cases/information received by it under various sections of the Competition Act, 2002.
Vacancies are being regularly advertised in newspapers and ‘Employment News’ and letters are being issued to various Ministries/Departments of the Government of India as also to the Heads of Autonomous Bodies, Research Institutions, High Courts, Supreme Court etc., to sponsor the names of officers for deputation to CCI. In order to overcome the immediate shortage, the Commission has been hiring experts for short period, as per the provision of the Act and the Regulation.
The Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Shri R.P.N. Singh gave this information in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
