Gold touches record high of Rs 32,300 per ten grams

Gold surged 320 rupees, to cross the 32,000-rupee mark for the first time ever, and hit a fresh record high of 32,300 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today. Gold rose on increased buying by stockists ahead of the marriage season, amid rising gold prices, globally. The precious metal has gained 1,555 rupees in the last two weeks. Silver climbed 1,100 rupees, to 61,100 rupees per kilo, on rising demand by industrial units and coin-makers.
In the international markets, gold rose almost 1 per cent, to 1,710 dollars an ounce, on speculation that the European Central Bank will announce unlimited purchases of government bonds to defuse the euro-zone debt crisis, increasing demand for bullion as an alternative investment. Silver added 1.8 per cent, to 32.85 dollars an ounce.
