Petrol prices slashed by Rs. 2.2 a litre

Petrol prices have been cut by 2 rupees and 2 paise a litre. The Petrol in Delhi will now cost 71.16 paise a litre from midnight tonight as against 73.18 paise at present. This includes reduction of taxes also. Minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Mr.R.P.N.Singh said that the decision has been taken after fortnightly review by the oil marketing companies as a result of fall in international oil prices. He however, maintained that this is not a partial rollback .
Last week petrol prices were up by 7 rupees 54 paise including taxes.
Reacting to reduction in petrol prices, the West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee said that she was not happy with the quantam of reduction in the prices and demanded complete roll back in their prices. BJP and left parties have also demanded complete roll back in the petrol prices.
