Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday praised the country's chartered accountants and said they had a "crucial role to play in India's progress".
"I congratulate my CA friends on Chartered Accountants Day & convey my best wishes. They have a crucial role to play in India's progress," Modi tweeted.
It was on this day in 1949 that the Chartered Accountants Act was passed by the Constituent Assembly, which was acting as the provisional parliament of India. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrates the day as its foundation day. (Business Standard)
