Katrina Kaif Wins Service Tax Case; Won’t Pay Rs 3 Crores Tax Demand

The Service Tax Tribunal has ruled in favor of actress Katrina Kaifand the lady has been discharged from any tax liability.
Earlier, the Indian Service Tax Department had filed a demand notice of Service Tax Recovery on actress Katrina Kaif for her advertisement and modeling fees assignment. They had raised a demand of service tax and penalty amounting to Tax of Rs 3 crores for the year 2006, 2007.
Post the demand notice, Katrina had filed an appeal in the Service Tax Tribunal against the Commissioner of Service Tax Mumbai that the tax was already paid by her agency and she is not liable for the tax or penalty.
