Government today approved 12,200 crore rupee recapitalisation programme for public sector banks.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting held in New Delhi today.The recapitalisation programme has been undertaken with a view to redress the financial health of public sector banks.
The proposed capital infusion will enhance the lending capacity of the public sector banks to meet the credit requirement of the economy and also to maintain and accelerate the economic growth momentum.
