These officials are Chief Manager Bechu B Tewari, Forex Department Manager Yashwant Joshi and Praful Sawant, a Scale I officer in Export section. They were arrested after their day-long questioning by CBI sleuths in Mumbai yesterday.
The agency also conducted searches at their residences located at Navi Mumbai, Andheri and Dombivili. The arrested PNB employees will be presented before the CBI special court in Mumbai today.
The CBI also conducted raids at the offices of Nirav Modi group companies in Mumbai, while the searches at PNB's Brady house branch where 11,300 crore rupees fraud took place have concluded.
The government has written to the Reserve Bank of India flagging doubts over supervisory lapses in the PNB scam.
In a letter, the Finance Ministry asked how did the fraud go undetected despite RBI's checks-and-balances in place. It said the current system in place needs to be checked for efficiency.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held yesterday between officials of Central Vigilance Commission, RBI and Punjab National Bank in New Delhi in the backdrop of the case. #casansaar (Source - NewsonAir)
