Rakesh Sharma takes over as Canara Bank MD and CEO

State-run Canara Bank today said Rakesh Sharma has assumed charge as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Before joining Canara Bank, Sharma was MD and CEO of Lakshmi Vilas Bank since March 7, 2014.
Sharma’s s parental bank was State Bank of India wherein he had raised to the level of Chief General Manager in his long distinguished career of over 33 years, the bank said in a statement issued here.While posted at Tokyo, he was in charge of overall functioning of SBI’s branches in Japan, it added.
Sharma’s main expertise lies in retail and wholesale banking, corporate credit, asset liability management, loan syndication, trade finance, industrial relations and HR issues, it said.
