The Budget session of Parliament will begin on February 23 and the Narendra Modi government will present its first full-year Budget on Saturday, February 28.
The Budget session is held in two parts - Parliament will close for a recess on March 20 and will reconvene on April 20. The session will end on May 8.
The Rail Budget will be presented on February 26 and the Economic Survey on the next day.
The Cabinet committee on Political Affairs met today to decide on dates for the session, which is crucial for the BJP government. It is lining up several key legislation to push and its Budget, a keenly awaited roadmap of reforms, is expected to lay the foundation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' plans.
The government also needs to replace at least six ordinances or emergency executive orders that it has issued with bills to be approved by Parliament. These ordinances will lapse if they do not get Parliament's nod. (NDTV)
