Would US president Barack Obama be interested in a job of junior engineer in India? At least the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) under the Union Ministry of Personnel would like to think so.
Lalu Lal Meena of Rambas village of Dausa district was shocked as also amused on Saturday to receive the admit card from the SSC for the junior engineer examination that was scheduled to be held next day - Sunday. Reason? He had not applied for the examination. At the same time he could not resist smiling when he saw the photograph of Obama pasted on the admit card.
"I had in fact appeared for the post of lower divisional clerk (LDC) long back in 1997, but could not succeed", 40-year-old Meena who runs a private school in the village said. As he had already crossed the upper age limit for appearing any further in the exam he never tried for any other post, he pointed out.
This was not the only discrepancy in the admit card. To qualify for becoming an engineer one is supposed to come from the science stream; but Meena is MA, B.Ed. Moreover, his date of birth is January 1, 1973 but the age mentioned on the admit card is October 5, 1987.
The admit card has purportedly issued by the SSC, northern region, New Delhi for junior engineer (civil, mechanical, electrical, quality survey wing contract examination 2013.
