Mars Orbiter Mission: India creates history, Mangalyaan enters Martian orbit

Finally the moment has arrived as India has created history in space. The country's first interplanetary mission Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) entered the Martian orbit at around 8 am on Wednesday morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was there to witness the historical moment and congratulates scientist for their hard work. With this achievement India becomes the first Asian country to reach Mars and the first nation to enter the Red Planet in the first attempt.
The Mars Orbiter spacecraft, after a 300-day flight and covering a distance of 680-million km following its launch on November 5, 2013, entered the Martian orbit early Wednesday.
With the success of MOM, India now joined the United States, European Space Agency and the former Soviet Union in the elite club of Martian explorers.
