Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee while addressing a gathering in Kolkata stated that women empowerment at the grass root level would bring the desired social economic change in the country.
He was addressing the audience on the launch of 'Sukanya' project on Saturday. Mukherjee reiterated that the government has initiated several schemes and adopted new initiatives for the development, welfare and empowerment of women. (Indian Express)
