Delhi Govt launches drive against GST defaulters

Also, to keep an eye on the suspicious and un-lawful trading activities of the dealers such as bogus billing, non Carrying of e-way bills, the department has also launched a special drive to ensure compliance of the provisions of GST Laws and to check/control tax evasion and to achieve revenue targets.
As per the reports shared by the department, “Notices have been issued to the 51,500 tax payers who have not filed GSTR-3B returns for the concerned tax periods. Besides, 135 notices have been issued in respect of excessive claim of ITC in GSTR-3B by the tax payers, 837 notices have been issued for showing lesser Output tax liability in GSTR-3B returns by the tax payers as compared to GSTR-1, 800 notices have been issued in respect of suspicious wrong/excessive claim of Input Tax Credit (ITC) in TRAN-1 by the tax payers,”
The department will keep a close watch on tax evasive commodities such as tobacco and gutka, iron and steel and building material.
“The main objective of this drive is to bridge the revenue gap as well as to increase GST revenue of Delhi. The drive shall continue with regular and intensive actions/steps in near future also. Also, a detailed strategy has been chalked out by the department and numerous instructions have been issued to GST Tax Officers of State Tax Department,” said H Rajesh Prasad, Commissioner, VAT.
Moreover, during the drive concerned officers will identify dealers carrying out business activities without registration, proofs, identification and action on Tax Payers, physical verification of at least 10 per cent new registrants/tax Payers, on basis of risk assessment, to curb issuance of bogus invoices.
Mobile squads have also been created to check the system of e-way bill and invoices during the movement of goods within Delhi, including the goods coming in Delhi from other States. #casansaar (Source - PTI, Daily Pinoneer)
