Fin Min to taxpayers: Revenue to be collected in just & fair manner

Finance Ministry today assured taxpayers that efforts would be made to end hostile relationships between officials and assesses and collect revenue in a just and fair manner.

Addressing officials of Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) Finance Minister P Chidambaram said in New Delhi ,once the tax payer is confident that the relationship between a tax payer and officer is not a hostile relationship, tax officers will find that more and more people have become compliant to tax laws.

Chidambaram also underlined the need for moving ahead on the path of replacing heavy handed tax administration with technology driven regime.
