The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) all set to file chargesheet against a judge of an Income Tax tribunal for colluding to pass favourable orders for a Chartered Accountants firm's clients.
The CBI is said to have collected evidence that a member of the Income Tax Apellate Tribunal (ITAT) colluded with a Kolkata-based firm of chartered accountants SK Tulsiyan & Co.
The CBI believes that the firm had prior knowledge and even helped write as many as 69 judgements.
Twelve of the orders were recovered from the firm's hard drive even before they were delivered.
The CBI judgements were prepared at the office of the CA firm and transferred to tribunal member Jugal Kishore, who was caught in 2008 accepting a bribe of Rs 30 lakh from the firm.
