RBI offices to remain open on Mar 31 for special clearings

All the regional offices of the Reserve Bank of India and the branches of agency banks will remain open on March 31, Saturday, for special clearings of government transactions for 2011-12. 

"With a view to facilitating accounting of all government transactions of the current financial year (2011-12)...all regional offices of Reserve Bank of India and branches of agency banks have been advised to conduct "Special Clearings" with same day return clearing in the evening or night of March 31, 2012," the central bank said in a notification. 

They have also been advised to ensure that the clearing houses under their jurisdiction conduct business, keeping in view the operational convenience at the local centres, so that instruments relating to revenue received from members of the public are realised and the proceeds are credited to government account by March 31, 2012, it said.
