The government of India has started automation in nearly all fields and now wants to maintain an online database of all Registration Process. With this aim, now the Government of India has made it mandatory for all NGO/ Society/ Trust, who wants to avail any Government grants/subsidy to enroll them, under Niti Aayog Portal. It is fully online Process under which, you have to provide complete detail of NGO and Its governing body. On the basis of which authorized person will verify NGO details and if satisfied then issue a Unique ID which NGO is required to mention while applying for Government Grants. It is a very good initiative by the Ministry to maintain a centralized database of All NGOs working for the welfare of Society. If any NGO/ Society does not comply with Government Instructions then they have the power to Blacklist that NGO and No further grants will be allotted to that NGO. Now I am going to elaborate on some basis Questions which generally asked by NGOs, related to Niti Aayog Registration Process.
Benefits:
As explained above, the aim of the government is to maintain a centralized database of all NGO/Trust/Society desirous to work for the welfare of society and wants to raise funds/grants from a government department to achieve their objectives.
As per government database, as on date, 82203 NGOs as already enrolled on the NGO Darpan portal, on which you can easily track/search the details of registered NGO. Some of the major benefits are:
- Niti Aayog Unique ID is required at the time of FCRA Registration, however, at present, it is optional Filed.
- It is mandatory to get Niti Aayog registration if you want to avail of government grants.
- NGO Darpan Portal maintains a database of all NGO currently active as well as Blacklisted NGO’s.
- Through this portal, you can directly apply for the grant, to the ministry from which you want to avail donation/grant
- It improves the credibility of NGO/Trust/ Society for getting a donation from the general public also.
Eligibility Criteria for Niti Aayog Registration:
- Must have valid mail id and Mobile Number
- Must have valid PAN Card, Aadhar Card details of governing body members
- Must have valid Trust Deed/ Society Registration Certificate
- As on Date, NGO/Trust/Society having valid PAN Number is eligible to apply for Niti Aayog Registration. Persons in Individual Capacity are not allowed to apply for Niti Aayog Registration
Q- Does Niti Aayog Provide grants to its registered NGO’s ?
Ans: No, Niti Aayog will not provide any grants to NGOs directly. On the basis of information provided by NGO, they will allot Unique Id which you have to mention while applying for grants from respective ministry as per the objectives of your NGO.
Q- Whether there is any annual Compliance after Niti Aayog Registration?
Ans: No, at present there is no such compliance requirement; however, if you receive any government grants then you have to intimate that information to Ministry after closing of the financial year.
Q-3 How much Time It will take to get an allotment of Unique ID after Niti Aayog Registration?
Ans: If your documents are complete in all respect, then the ministry will take 2-3 days to allot Unique ID.
