First CA Examination in the New Syllabus in 2017 - ICAI Vice President
The new curriculum for Chartered Accountancy (CA), with the objective of making the course more practical to meet the requirements of the competitive market, is likely to be announced in 2016.
Addressing presspersons here on Friday, vice-president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), M. Devaraja Reddy, said the new syllabus had been prepared keeping in mind global academic, technological and economic advancements.
He said the proposed syllabus for CA proficiency test to CA final had been forwarded to the Union government for approval. The students are likely to write the first examination in the new syllabus in 2017. The new syllabus comprises of objective and subjective-type questions, he said.
Replying to a query, Mr. Reddy said the ICAI had set aside Rs. 10 crore for the proposal to reach out to more schools and colleges in a bid to attract the students towards the highly rewarding chartered accountancy. While various branches were conducting outreach programmes already, the new proposal would add more focus to it.
Because of various measures for simplifying the CA course, without compromising on quality and other steps, youngsters were opting for the course, he said.(The Hindu)
