CA Students called for a protest on Thursday at ICAI
Many final year students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) are up in arms against the institute for withdrawing declared results and redeclaring them with numerous names ‘missing’ from the list.
Students have called for a protest on Thursday at ICAI Bhawan, New Delhi
The students claimed that the result was first declared at 2 p.m. on January 17 but was withdrawn and redeclared at 8 p.m. the same day.
While the first result had the names of 24,284 successful candidates, the second result scaled down the number to 19,104.
Letter to PM
The aggrieved students have called for a protest on Thursday and have also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking justice.
The ICAI could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
“The ICAI made major flaws in declaring the much-awaited result list for the final-year examinations. A list was uploaded at said time stating the [names of] candidates passed. Later, the sheet was taken back with a new list being uploaded in which names of some students were missing when compared to the first list,” said a letter to Mr. Modi by a student of the ICAI.
‘Manipulation of results’
“This signifies manipulations of the result and scaling in results. We work hard all day and night to appear for exams, and if such manipulations are done then this is against the right of a citizen as this is the body set up by an Act of Parliament.”
The letter added, “Also, there are numerous mistakes and errors in the study material issued in the new syllabus. I request you to take strict action against the disciplinary committee and boards of studies of the ICAI so that the errors can be rectified… and to prevent such flaws in future...” #casansaar (Source - The Hindu)
