CWG scam: CAG report to be tabled in parliament
The Comptroller and Auditor General's (CAG) report on irregularities in the October 2010 Commonwealth Games will be tabled in parliament on Friday, according to the business listed for the two houses.
The report, which has already caused much uproar after being leaked to the media, is expected to point fingers at Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and even the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Opposition parties have been raising the matter and are seeking Dikshit's resignation. The Delhi government, however, insists there have been no irregularities.
According to reports, the federal auditor slammed Dikshit government for lapses and irregularities, stating the contracts for the Games were overpriced and delayed to make money.
The CAG has also reportedly slammed the PMO for ignoring warnings against the Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi.
Dikshit Thursday said, "We have not done anything wrong. Everything was done keeping in mind the national interest and prestige. We were entrusted with certain responsibilities and we delivered them."
The Commonwealth Games took place in the Indian capital from Oct 3-14 last year.
