GST penalty imposed before deadline

Thanks to a technical glitch on the GST website, traders and chartered accountants found it difficult to file GST returns.

The deadline for filing GST returns for September transactions is October 20. However, when returns were uploaded on the website, it erroneously issued penalties for late filing starts on Saturday — six days before the deadline.

"However, since Saturday, when we tried to upload the GSTR-3(B) form, the website has been issuing penalties for late filing. Unless the penalty is paid, returns cannot be uploaded."

Its increasing day by day by Rs. 200/- per day. GSTBA officials said that a penalty of Rs 4,800 is being generated for filing returns for transactions made in August, for which exemption had already been announced. This shows only because of Return Submission & Return Filed.

This is becoming like a compulsory extortion of money by government in the name of GST and penalty. When it was waived off, how are they charging again? #casansaar

I hope, late fee exemption was not announced for Aug17. System was erroneously not charging late fee from 02Oct17. Now they're making good their leakage of late fee.
