GST will be consumer-friendly, healthcare and education to be exempted - FM
The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that healthcare and education will remain exempted from the GST. Addressing a press conference after the two-day 14th GST council meeting in Srinagar today, Mr. Jaitley said, services to be taxed at 5, 12, 18, 28 per cent.
He said, restaurants with turnover of upto 50 lakh rupees will face 5% tax while non-AC restaurant will charge 12 per cent tax. AC restaurants and those with liquor licence to attract 18%, 5-star hotels 28 per cent and hotels with tariff of 1,000-2,500 rupees 12 per cent tax slab.
Mr. Jaitley said, telecom and financial services to attract 18 per cent and it will be 28 per cent for race club, betting and cinema halls. He said, 5 per cent GST to be levied on transport services and app based cab aggregrators.
In reply to a question, Mr Jaitley, who is also the Defence Minster, expressed satisfaction over the aggressive domination and readiness of troops along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir to give a befitting response to any misadventure by Pakistan.
On terrorists being funded from outside, Mr Jaitley said, it is aimed against Indian state, its sovereignty and people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, It is well known that perpetrators of terrorism are funded from across border to create unrest in India.#casansaar (Source - NewsonAir)
