Cabinet clears Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill 2016 to improve road safety in India
Union Cabinet today gave its approval to Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill 2016 to improve road safety in the country. The bill proposes to increase penalties against traffic violations to as deterrent measure.
It also has stricter provisions for offences like juvenile driving, drunken driving and driving without licence. Cabinet also approved rates for Spectrum Usage Charge for various bands for which auctions are going to be conducted shortly.
In an another decision, the Cabinet gave its nod for amending Central List of OBCs for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as advised by National Commission for Backward Classes. It will make 35 changes in the OBC list of Andhra Pradesh and add 86 new entries in Telangana.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA today approved upgradation of 13 existing government Medical Colleges and Institutes under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
The upgradation will involve an expenditure of 200 crore rupees for each government Medical College and Institute. The total upgradation cost will be Rs 2,600 crore, out of which Central share will be 1,560 crore rupees and States Rs 1,040 crore . #casansaar
