The draft Public Procurement Bill was today approved by the panel of Ministers set up to tackle corruption. The bill is being brought to regulate government purchases using transparent bidding process. Minister of State for Personnel, V.Narayanaswamy told this to reporters after the meeting of the GoM. The draft bill was cleared after incorporating the views of public. Mr. Narayanaswamy said that the GoM did not discuss the model code of conduct, as it is not in its terms of reference. He was asked this question after reporters referred to some media reports to this effect.

The minister of state for personnel V Narayanasamy told reporters after the meet in New Delhi today, it will now go to the Prime Minister for approval and then to the Cabinet for final clearance.
