PMO refer the case of ICAI while rejecting RTI on Robert Vadra-DLF Deal

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has turned down the request of a Lucknow based Right to Information (RTI) activist to provide information in regards with the progress in the case relating to Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra's connection with the DLF.
The PMO has cited the Supreme Court order in Institute of Chartered Accountants of India vs Shaunk H Satya case which was related with the issue of fiduciary relation and sought exemption from the RTI.
"The office, keeping in view the Supreme Court's ruling, has sought exemption as the matter has been treated as confidential", the PMO's reply signed by SE Rizvi, Deputy Secretary and Central Public Information Officer, stated.
Nutan Thakur, who had sought information under the RTI Act alleged that she has been denied information without any valid reason.
She had filed a PIL in Vadra-DLF nexus case in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court in October 2012.
"All I had asked was when the copy of the Writ Petition I had filed in the HC was received by the PMO and what action was taken in this matter. But the PMO doesn't want to provide any information", she said.
For the record, the PMO in its reply to the HC dated November 28, 2012 had given clean chit to Vadra.
Thakur had sought court's intervention to ask the Union Government to probe alleged Vadra-DLF land deal in Haryana between 2007 and 2010. The allegation was leveled against Vadra by Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of Aam Admi Party.
