Lok Sabha was adjourned following uproar over the issue of FDI in retail, Telangana and Mullaperiyar issues. While, the Rajya Sabha adjourned after witnessing noisy scenes over FDI and other issues.

Earlier, both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for an hour till 12 noon today on the issue of allowing Foreign Direct Investment in multi-brand retail sector.

As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, the Opposition members started raising slogans with some of them rushing into the well of the House. Few others were displaying placards demanding a separate Telangana state and also on the issue of safety of the Mullaperiyar dam. Last week, issues like price rise, black money, Telangana and FDI in retail sector were raised in both the Houses, disrupting the proceedings for four days.

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh convened a meeting of the leaders of UPA allies to discuss the issue of allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the multi-brand retail sector.

Later talking to reporters, Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Union Minister, Mr. Sudeep Bandopadhyaya said that he made the stand of his party over the FDI issue. He said he tried to convince the Prime Minister about the feelings of the people on FDI.

Leaders from DMK, Muslim League, National Conference and Nationalist Congress Party also expressed their views on the issue.
