CA booked for hacking I-T returns account in Gurgaon

The Gurgaon police on Monday booked a man for allegedly hacking an income tax returns account of an employee in March this year.
The police said Deepak Rao, a resident of Sector 17A, had filed a complaint at the Sector 18 police station, alleging that his password had been changed by an unknown person as he was unable to open his e-file income tax account.
The victim works with a private company in Gurgaon. According to the police, the accused, identified as XXXXXXXXXXXX, a Chartered Accountant (CA) cum lawyer from XXXXXX, had hacked the account with an intention to know the victim’s income and tax amount paid over a period of time. After a preliminary investigation by the cyber crime cell, the charted accountant was booked under relevant sections of Information Technology Act.
The police said that the case was transferred to the cyber crime cell for some technical investigations.
“XXXXXX hacked the account to know the victim’s income and tax amount paid by him. After hacking, the accused accessed details of Rao’s income, tax amount paid, PAN card number. Later, XXXXXX changed the password of Rao’s e-account on the IT website,” said inspector Amit Kumar, SHO Sector 18 police station. (Hindustand Times)
