Disciplinary cases: CA Institute plans e-hearing facility

The CA Institute plans to usher in the facility of ‘e-hearing’ for its disciplinary cases, its President Manoj Fadnis has said.
Such a facility — once introduced after amendment of the rules — would help in faster disposal of disciplinary cases against any erring members, Fadnis told BusinessLine. The proposal to introduce ‘e-hearing’ for disciplinary cases will be brought before the central council next month, he added.
Once the Central Council approves it, the decision will be forwarded to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for the final approval, he added.
“It is not that the concept of e-hearing will happen in next few months itself. We are looking at this as a futuristic plan,” he said.
The facility of ‘e-hearing’ would be beneficial for both the members of the CA Institute as well as the disciplinary committee in terms of reduced cost and faster disposal of cases. He said that the facility will only be optional and not mandatory.
Fadnis also said that the CA Institute was trying its best to ensure that a robust disciplinary mechanism as prescribed under the law is adopted. (The Hindu)
