ICAI launches Accountancy Museum
It has huge collection of coins & carvings of Vedic period which defines accountancy culture in India.
The Institute of Chartered Accountancy in India (ICAI) Indore branch launched the first ever accountancy museum of Indore on Saturday. The museum includes all the archival data on charted accountancy from across the country.
The museum has elements which trace the history of accountancy in India.
"We are pleased that accountancy museum is being inaugurated by commerce students who are going to attain high commerce professional degree," said Indore CA branch chairman Manoj Gupta.
The museum also contains coins and carvings of the Vedic period which define accountancy culture in India.
ICAI media in charge CA Rajesh Mehta said that the accountancy museum contains history of currency as well as glimpses of accountancy heritage.
Several documents which are around a hundred-years-old have also been preserved in the museum.
120 students from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar School were invited to inaugurate the event for their association with commerce subject.
"120 students from classes 11th and 12th inaugurated the museum," Mehta said.
Motivating the students to opt for CA as a profession, school principal Punita Nehru said, "Earlier, most of the students used to opt for Science and Maths but now they are keen to opt for Commerce also. She said students are now attracted towards CA profession, she desired that students should become CA."
The museum also contains certificates of former Indian auditors who were selected in the Indian accountancy board.
In one such element, the Government Diploma in Accountancy certificate of the year 1935 which was awarded to Jagdish Prasad has been displayed in the museum.
