Request to provide/update PAN details to avoid blocking of e-filing account by the Income-tax Department - ICAI
I. Members who have not shared their PAN with ICAI
It has been informed by the Income Tax Department that the e-Filing account of the members, who have not provided their PAN details to the Institute but are using e-filing account with Income Tax Department, will be blocked by the Income Tax Authorities after April 30, 2017 in case the same is not updated.
Members holding COP who have not yet provided details are requested to provide their PAN details at the link http://appforms.icai.org/panupdate/index.html
II. Members whose name as per ICAI database is mismatching with PAN database
It has also been informed by Income Tax Department that due to mismatch in the name in the central database of ICAI and the PAN database, the e-filing account in all such cases will also be blocked by Income Tax Authorities. To avoid blocking on account of this discrepancy, members are requested to fill their details carefully in the form appearing on the aforesaid link indicating therein their complete name as mentioned in the PAN database (which can be checked on e-filing portal) and attach a scanned self-attested copy of the PAN Card alongwith one additional proof of the name as appearing in the PAN database.
It may be noted that despite making several requests earlier vide emails and Announcements by the ICAI, there are still many members who have not yet provided their PAN details in the central database of ICAI.
Since the Income Tax Department has been insisting time and again to update the PAN details of the members in practice, by way of this announcement, the last and final opportunity is being provided to the members in practice to provide/update their PAN details as early as possible but latest by 27th April, 2017, failing which it may kindly be noted that we are informed that the Income Tax Department will be blocking the e-filing account of those members whose PAN details are not available with ICAI and also of those members where there is a mismatch in the name which is appearing in the central database of ICAI and the PAN database.
