Laxman Das takes over as new CBDT chairman

 Laxman Das took over as the new chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday. 
     
The former chairman of the CBDT, M C Joshi, retired yesterday.
     
Das, who belongs to the 1974 batch of the Indian Revenue Services (IRS), was earlier serving as CBDT Member (Revenue), CBDT spokesperson Anuja Sarangi told PTI.
     
A Master of Physics, Das was also Chief Commissioner of the Income Tax Department in Delhi.
