RBI allows people going abroad to carry up to Rs 10k

Providing greater flexibility to individuals travelling abroad, the Reserve Bank of India, on Friday, allowed them to carry Indian currency of up to Rs.10,000 per person.

 

The limit has been increased from the existing Rs.7,500 per person.

 

“As part of providing greater flexibility to the resident individuals travelling abroad, the existing limit...has been enhanced to Rs.10,000 per person. “...any person resident in India, may take outside India (other than to Nepal and Bhutan) currency notes of Government of India and Reserve Bank of India notes up to an amount not exceeding Rs.10,000 per person,” the RBI said in a notification.

 

Also, it allowed any person on a temporary visit outside India to bring into India at the time of his return from any place (other than Nepal and Bhutan) currency notes up to an amount not exceeding Rs.10,000 per person. (PTI)
