Police rescue CA student confined inside house for more than five years
A 35 year old chartered accountancy student, who was confined inside her Malleshwaram residence for more than five years, was on Tuesday rescued by police after health minister UT Khader visited her. Assisted by doctors, Hemavathi Renukappa was shifted to Nimhans in an ambulance where they admitted her to ICU after drawing blood and urine for tests.
The rescue came after few neighbours alerted the media on Tuesday morning saying they don't want to see Hemavathi dying everyday. "We heard her crying for food on Monday night. Deciding enough is enough, we alerted the media," Shanmugappa M, a neighbour and distant relative of the family told TOI.
When asked, Hemavathi's father Renukappa told police that they had no choice. "She is suffering nerve related problems and we have not locked her," he said. However, he refused to comment before media.
"I am feeling low. You will understand this if you study me by close. Please help me," uttered Hemavatahi to health minister Khader who paid a surprise visit to the house in 16 thcross, 12thmain, Mallehwaram. The house is located close to earlier BJP office which hosts KJP meetings now.
The two bedroom house has red-oxide for floor and dry, dirty walls tell that they were never painted for decades. Low ventilation and lack of light added drama to the pathetic condition of Hemavathi, who was forced to spend time lying motionless in a corner. (Times of India)
