SEBI brings bank loan facilities under its ambit
Listen to this Article
The stock market regulator SEBI has brought loan facilities provided by banks under its purview.
These facilities would be instruments such as “other securities/ instruments, loans and facilities” provided by banks that are appraised by credit rating agencies.
This has been done after consultation with other regulators and credit rating agencies.
With this, SEBI aims to apply to these instruments the same stringent rating norms used for rating IPOs and public issues.
Henceforth SEBI's half yearly audit of ratings done by agencies would also include ratings of the above mentioned instruments.
