An employee is paying rent for 2 Houses simontaneously (One for his own residence in the city where he is employed and one for the residence of his family in some other city).
In calculation of exemption, Can Actual Rent be taken as Total of Both Rent.

hello
section 10(13A) of the income tax act 1961 says rent paid. so to the extent of my knowledge he can claim rent paid for both the houses. for example if he would have been staying with his family for suppose 7 months than shifts to a city where he is paying rent for remaining 5 months than rent paid will be considered for only 5 months and not 12 months..
