Q. > Please Help: Rent Free Accommodation
What if Salary drawn is nil but Rent Free Accommodation received by the assessee is Rs. 100000/- per month. Is this perq. taxable?
I think in case of unfurnished accommodation,
Actual Rent paid by Employer or 15% of Salary (whichever is lower) Nil
(Salary is Nil; Nil *15% = Nil is lower than 100000*12= 1200000 )
less:- rent paid by employee Nil
Therefore, taxable value of perq. will also be NIL
