Q. > Please Help: Service Tax on Hotels
As Hotels are covered under composite scheme of taxation ie @ 60% of value of goods and services supplied at therein. kindly guide whether for calculation of the SSI exemption of Rs. 10 Lacs we need to take only 60% value . Mean practically they need not to take registration and pay ST in case thier turnover be upto Rs. 16.67 Lacs . AS 60% of 16.67Lacs = Rs. 10 Lacs Pls guide

Your total turnover is 16.67 lacs in during the period. you can avail exemption Rs. 10 lacs and pay service tax @ 4.944% on balance amount Rs 6.67 lacs. [ You start paying service tax amount after crossing the threshold limit 10 lacs and exemption is not available if service providing under brand name or trade name]
