Please Help: Taxability

A contractor provides repair & maintenance services(Repair of sewerage and water pipes etc) to govt authorities. 01.07.2012 onwards this service is specifically mentioned in negative list. I want to know whether this service was taxable prior to 01.07.2012.???

06-Apr-2014 , 02:29:15 amNo, prior to there was no exemption to repairs and maintenance of sewerage and pipelines. Earlier, these were liable to service tax under "works contract service".
