Be Cautious While E-Filing Income-Tax Returns - Letter to ICAI by DIT (Systems)
LETTER FROM DIT (SYSTEMS) – MEMBERS TO BE CAUTIOUS WHILEE-FILING INCOME-TAX RETURNS
CA Members may note that ICAI has received a letter from Directorate of Income-tax (Systems) requesting it to impart information regarding correctprocedure of e-filing of returns. The following are the major concerns of the Department:-
a) ITR-V is not received or is belated for the assessment year at CPC
b) ITR-V is not signed by the tax payer
Members may note that to eliminate the above mentioned problems, the Income-tax Department has started a drive through media, press release, instructions and chambers to increase awareness among the tax payers. Although, we are sure that the members are aware of the e-filing process, it is our responsibility to bring, the following initiatives taken by the Department in this regard, to your notice:
- A help desk has been set up for information, held or any assistance. The taxpayers can call 1800 180 1961 or 1800 425 2229.
- The taxpayer can visit Income tax website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in for any information.
- They can also know the status of their e-returns through e-filing website under “Know your ITR V status”. The status of receipt of ITR-V can be viewed at e-filing websitehttps://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. The ITR-V form can be downloaded from the samewebsite.
