RBI to put new series of Rs 5, Rs 2 coins into circulation
The Reserve Bank of India will soon put into circulation new series ofcoins of Rs two and Rs five denominations.
AnRBI press release said The Rs two coin would have on the obverse side, the lion capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend 'Satyameva Jayathe' (in Hindi) flanked on the left periphery with the word Bharat (in Hindi) and on the right periphery flanked with the word INDIA in English.
the face of the coin would have the denomination 2 in international numerals, flanked on the left and right periphery with the floral design. The upper periperhy would have the Rupee symbol and the year of minting in international numerals shall be on the lower periphery.
It said the face of the Rs five coin on the obverse would have the lion capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend Satyameva Jayate (in Hindi) inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word Bharat (in Hindi) and on the right periphery flanked with the word INDIA in English.
the face of this coin on the reverse would bear the denominational value 5 in the international numerals flanked on the left and right periphery with the floral design. the upper periphery would bear the Rupee symbol and the year of minting in international numerals shall also be shown on the lower periphery.
The existing Rs five and Rs two coins in circulation shall also continue to be legal tender, it said.
